Tradition has happened, that on Saturday, October 6 at the airport Wilamowo is a unique celebration of a patriotic and civic and religious, and dedicated to great Poles. Genesis of the ceremony and its accompanying description presents below an open letter from the Stanislaw Tołwiński - President of the AKJ and their initiator. Towards the prudence ... and in honor of great Poles!
"... Man is not only responsible for feelings, which has for others, but also for those that awakens in the others ... "
Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski
This profound thought became my inspiration to take initiatives for permanent preservation in the memory of new generations of Poles person Primate of the Millennium, his compounds of Warmia and Masuria and airport Kętrzyn Wilamowo.
For a permanent commemoration October 6, 1954, when Cardinal Wyszynski as a state prisoner was transported by our airport and departed from one place to another internment, I initiated with the participation of local authorities place a memorial obelisk.
With acceptance of His Eminence Joseph Cardinal Glemp and the personal involvement of Archbishop Edmund Piszcz, Ordinary of the Archdiocese of Warmia, 6 October 2001 in a very solemn scene was unveiled at the airport Wilamowo, a memorial plaque dedicated to the Primate of the Millennium.
Mail flagship AK, Siberians, companies honorable of military units from Giżycko Węgorzewo and Border Guards, State and local government authorities and a large population from the region, participating in the unveiling of the obelisk paid tribute to memory of the Great Pole. The ceremony ended in mass field airport hangar, with the participation of the choir from church of St. Catherine and military band were very solemn and moving element.
"Day of Remembrance of Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski," since 2001 was established as a permanent celebration made each year at the airport Kętrzyn Wilamowo.
On the occasion of 85 anniversary of the Polish Aeroclub, on 10/09/2004, during the annual ceremony "Day of Remembrance ..." has unveiled an obelisk and plaque in tribute to the airmen who died. Unveiling and dedication made the Polish Primate Cardinal Jozef Glemp - also a member of the Polish Aeroclub - participating in the celebrations of the "Day of Remembrance of Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski."
Currently, at the airport Kętrzyn Wilamowo, in an outdoor gallery also we expose another memorial obelisks dedicated to the victims of the Air Force plane crash in Mirosławiec and last placed in 2010, non-volatile memory to the Victims of plane crash near Smolensk.
Great personal relationships Primate Cardinal Wyszynski and Wojtyla became my inspiration, to in 2005 during the celebration of "Day of Remembrance of Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski," make the unveiling of the obelisk with the bas-relief and plaque dedicated to "John Paul II - the world's largest pilgrim."
Since 2006, the celebrations are celebrated under the name "Day of Remembrance of Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski and Pope John Paul II."
This year as usual celebration of "Day of Remembrance ..." will take place in a solemn and very sublime atmosphere.
On October 7, 2011 (Friday) we invite all to the Sanctuary in Stoczek Klasztorny, and on 8 October 2011 (Saturday) at the airport Wilamowo, the solemn appeal at 13.00 and the Liturgy of the Word celebrated in airport hangar.
All for which this initiative is important: religious, civic and educational, I ask for the widest possible dissemination of the planned ceremony at the airport Kętrzyn Wilamowo, combined with the personal participation in the planned celebration of "Days of Remembrance ..."
With the hope of the common ... paying homage to outstanding, great Poles
Masuria, airport Wilamowo, September 2011
